Univar Personal Care Reveals New Textures at in-cosmetics

ROTTERDAM, The NetherlandsMarch 2, 2012 – Univar Inc., a leading global chemical distributor today announced plans to intensify the focus of its personal care business on textures as it continues to expand the business’ portfolio and technical capabilities. An exciting new range of textures will be demonstrated on Univar’s stand (D20) at in-cosmetics in Barcelona from 17-19 April 2012.

“Univar Personal Care’s offering has always been strong when it comes to textures,” explains Philippe Villequey, industry development manager, personal care, EMEA. “It is an important area of formulation because if a product’s texture is poor, it will not appeal to consumers. With new ingredients being introduced to the market all the time, customers can find it challenging to ensure a consistent and pleasing texture in their products. We have the product portfolio and technical formulation expertise to help our customers overcome this obstacle and to create textures that end-consumers will love.”

During the show, Univar will be showcasing a number of exciting formulations at the stand’s Sensory Bar that demonstrate the range of its texture palette.  Innovations on display will include a new silicone gum from XIAMETER (PMX 1502 FLUID) and new products from Dow Corning, including two elastomers which provide enhanced compatibility with organic ingredients (Dow Corning® EL-8052 IH Silicone Organic Elastomer Blend and Dow Corning® EL-7040 Hydro Elastomer Blend).

Dow Corning® EL-7040 Hydro Elastomer Blend will also be highlighted at the show’s Innovation Zone.  Compared to traditional silicone elastomers, this product blend provides enhanced formulation flexibility with its ability to incorporate high levels of water and/or glycerine while retaining a gel structure and the elastomer feel.  It improves the aesthetics of formulations containing glycerine without sacrificing the moisturization performance.

Univar’s stand will also showcase new products launched recently by Dow Personal Care, such as EcoSmooth™ Satin Conditioning Polymer and Ecosmooth™ Silk.

Univar’s dedicated personal care specialists will be on hand at in-cosmetics to demonstrate how Univar is able to simplify the complex textural issues common to the industry, as well as showcasing the company’s comprehensive range of personal care ingredients.
