Trientine Dihydrochloride 300mg capsule is used for the treatment of Wilson’s disease.
Wilson's Disease is caused by a very rare genetic disorder whereby copper accumulates in the body. Untreated, this is fatal as the excess copper affects organs in the body.
As Wilson’s disease affects a limited number of people in the community, the medicine Trientine Dihydrochloride is classed as an Orphan drug.
Trientine Dihydrochloride 300mg capsule was licensed by the UK regulatory authority, MHRA, in 1985. The medicine obtained Orphan drug statues from the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (EMEA) in recognition of its excellent safety profile in 2003.
